This is a question probably many of us are pondering when it comes to getting the COVID-19 vaccine shot. It is a personal choice if you want to be vaccinated or not, and there may be questions that you have regarding it, such as:

How safe is it

Will I have a reaction to it?

What happens if I have allergies?

Being a diabetic will it raise my blood sugars?

What are the long term effects?

How long does the vaccine last?

I want to share a video that was put on by TCOYD about the COVID-19 vaccine. These are endocrinogists who have diabetes themselves. I found it to be helpful in answering some of my questions.

Diabetes & the COVID-19 Vaccine: We Got Ours and Our Bromance is BACK!

What Diabetic Type Are You ?

Robin Sawyer

Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes

Type 2 Diabetes

american diabetes association

diabetes

gestational

insulin

insulin resistant

pancreas

type 1

type 2

type 3

Are you a Type 1, 2, 3 or do you have Gestational Diabetes? Diabetes can happen at any age, to any ethnic group no matter your size or shape. Here […]

Are you a Type 1, 2, 3 or do you have Gestational Diabetes? Diabetes can happen at any age, to any ethnic group no matter your size or shape. Here is a brief breakdown of each type.

Type 1 Diabetes is where your pancreas is producing very little or no insulin at all and you become insulin dependent. It is considered an autoimmune disease and is more common in children, and young adults, but they are discovering that more people are getting this type later in life. It makes up about 5-10% of the population.

Type 2 Diabetes is the most common type of diabetes and it tends to run in families. It usually occurs later in life, but more children are getting it due to weight concerns and dietary habits. This is where the pancreas produces insulin, but the body is unable to convert it properly, so they become insulin resistant.

Type 3 Diabetes is an individual that supports and is impacted by the diabetic person. They are usually the person you live with that helps you out and helps you stay on track. They can usually sense when your blood sugar is off and can encourage you in those difficult moments. To me they are our life savers!

Gestational Diabetes Occurs when the Mother’s body is not able to make and use all the insulin it needs for pregnancy. According to the American Diabetes Association they are not sure what causes gestational diabetes. They say that it could be the placenta that supports the baby triggers hormones that can block the insulin in the mother’s body, which causes her to become insulin resistant.

As you go through my website, you can read about my story in the “About me” and discover what Type I am, and also let us know what type you are.
